Putting another pin in the map Tomorrow I am off to Costa Rica. I am excited and apprehensive at the same time. I am excited because it is a country I have not been to. I always enjoy learning about new places an cultures. My time abroad has definitely shaped my view of the world and American society. I am apprehensive because I am being pulled out of my comfort zone. In this case is not my home and community. It is my independence. I will have virtually no independence on this trip. This is extremely difficult for me. Things such as when or what I eat I will have little control over. I am also very uncomfortable in other peoples space. This is going to make staying with host families challenging. The things that most people would be uncomfortable with in this situation are the things I am looking forward to. I enjoy being outside the US. So much so that I can only go so long before I feel a need to pack up...
